About This Diploma

In the Advanced Software and Web Developer Diploma, students learn the coding languages that every web developer needs to know: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students then broaden their skill set with a strong foundation in SQL and Python that will lead to even more opportunities in the world of software development.

The Software and Web Developer programme prepares students for a dynamic career in software and web development.

Courses Included

Core Courses:

Computer and Technology Basics for Developers
This course is designed to provide students with a firm foundation in technology fundamentals. The course has been developed so that someone with no prior technology experience can fully under-stand computers.

Overview of Software Development
Designed to teach students the basics of computer programming, students will learn the fundamental concepts of coding without reference to a specific computer language.

Version Control
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to utilize version control systems.

HTML
Students will gain a thorough understanding of the concepts required to develop websites using the HTML programming language.

CSS and Bootstrap
This course provides students with the essential knowledge and skills to use CSS and Bootstrap to develop esthetically appealing websites.

JavaScript
Students will learn the fundamental elements of JavaScript and how to create programs and modify web pages using the JavaScript language.

Database and SQL
In this course, students learn the fundamentals of databases and SQL and how they relate to software development.

Visual Studio
This course is designed to teach students how to navigate and manage programming code within Visual Studio, an integrated development environ-ment from Microsoft that helps developers write software programs.

Python (Parts 1 & 2)
This two-part course series provides students with the knowledge and skills to use the Python programming language to build robust web applications.

Managing Software Development Projects
This course is designed specifically for students who are new to managing software development projects. Students will complete this course with a greater understanding of project management as it relates to software development.

Pre-Requisites

Students don’t need to have any specific experience or qualifications before beginning the training.

Wherever possible our training is tailored to your needs. The cost of our training programmes depend on the course(s) you choose and varies according to duration and breadth. Rest assured we have a number of payment options available to ensure the cost of training is affordable and can be worked alongside your other financial commitments. Common ways people fund their training include: –

Self-Funded:

  • Flexible payment plans to help you spread the cost* available at many of our centres;
  • You could opt to pay upfront.

Company Funded:

Requesting funding from your employers needn’t be a daunting task. Many employers support and encourage their employees with their professional development and consider it a worthwhile investment to fund any training required.

  • Communication with finance departments to arrange payment options (upfront or payment plan*).

Funding & Grants:

There may be the opportunity to apply for funded grants that can help towards the cost of training. These include the Skills Development Scotland ITAs and the ReAct programme in Wales. All schemes will have different terms and conditions that will need to be met in order to qualify for a grant and these are managed by each individual centre.
